What better way to start the year than a week dedicated to setting intentions, nourishing the body, reconnecting to who you are, what you want and soaking up some much needed vitamin D. How do you fancy escaping the cold, dark days of January and heading to Morocco with me for sun, yoga and delicious food?
I visited Morocco for the first time earlier this year whilst on a yoga retreat with Just Relax Yoga Holidays, (actually as a student for once) and had the best, most rejuvenating time staying at the magical Riad Les Deux Monde. So now I’m super excited to get to go back there and lead a retreat, so that I can facilitate a nourishing and relaxing week for you to unwind, de-stress and downward dog before the Christmas madness.
Each day will start off with an invigorating 90-minute yoga class in the yoga shala or under the terrace near the pool, followed by a mouth-watering buffet style breakfast.
The rest of the day you will have plenty of time to relax around the heated swimming pool, to chill in the garden, to choose one of the many extra activities of your choice available at the Riad or to head off into town to explore Moroccan culture in more depth.
Around 6pm we will have a restoring and gentle evening yoga session with Yin, writing and meditation, followed by a delicious dinner.
The retreat will take place at a stunning, authentic Moroccan Riad, 8km from Essaouira and a 10min drive from the famous beach of Sidi Kaouki.
The Riad has a gorgeous outdoor space with sun loungers, hammocks, shaded seating spaces and a heated swimming pool. Inside you will find a large open communal area with space for lounging, a dining area and a tranquil yoga shala.
All the rooms are spacious, bright and comfortable, and all have a traditional Moroccan en-suite bathroom. There are a variety of room options available ranging from double, triple and quadruple to suit both your price range and your desire to solidify new friendships with bedtime stories or have some space to yourself.
Pool and shower towels are provided and as well as a small argan oil soap from a local co-operative.
All of the meals on the yoga retreat are well balanced, vegetarian and homemade. Morning and evening meals are made with organic products harvested from the garden or sourced locally.
Breakfast and dinner are an invitation to discover an inspiring and tasty healthy cuisine. Convinced that the health passes at first by the food, all meals are essentially fruit and vegetable based with limited dairy products as well as sugars. However taste is not compromised in the slightest, you will likely find yourself wanting the recipes for all the bread, tarts, tagines, salad’s and deserts.
There will be two daily yoga classes, the morning class will be a dynamic energising vinyasa practice followed by restorative soothing yin in the evenings. The evening classes will include journaling, meditation and visualisation activites.
Each day we will work with a different theme, in both the morning and evening practice, so you can really immerse yourself into the focus for the day. I also recommend bringing a notebook; journaling is a great way of processing anything that comes up and perfect if you’re looking to explore your creativity. Just like headstands, classes are not mandatory, it is your holiday so you are free to do with it whatever you choose, should you feel that you need more time and space for yourself.

Workshop - Natural cosmetics
Learn how to prepare your own natural skincare products, adapted to your individual skin type. Learn how to make cosmetics that do not contain parabens, phenoxyethanol, aluminum, phthalate, etc. The workshop includes the preparation and the application of: a scrub, a facial mask and a moisturizing and balancing cream to take home with you. At the end of the workshop, you will leave with your new products and the recipes of all the treatments we applied during our workshop.
Revitalizing Cooking Workshop
During this workshop, you will learn how fun, delicious and easy it is to incorporate powerful nutrients into your daily diet. We will particularly talk about the benefits of fresh vegetable juices and green smoothies, two major and complementary methods to optimize health and well-being. You also have the opportunity to learn any of the recipes that have been used during the week for both breakfast and dinner.
