Mexico Retreat

7th - 13th November 2027

One of the things I love about hosting retreats is that they’re never just about the yoga. They’re about experiencing somewhere new, eating food you’ve never tried before, meeting people you wouldn’t otherwise have met, having conversations that last until far too late and remembering what it feels like to have nowhere you need to be.

I’ve been wanting to host a retreat in Mexico for a while and when I discovered this place, I knew I’d found somewhere special. Tucked away in the jungle of Xul-Ha in Quintana Roo, Kokoro Mío is a small, intimate sanctuary surrounded by nature, just a short distance from the famous Laguna de los Siete Colores, the Seven Colours Lagoon.

This retreat will be a chance to slow down, step away from everyday life and spend a week immersed in yoga, nature, culture, good food and Mexican sunshine. There’ll be plenty of time to practice, explore, swim, eat, rest and generally remember how sweet life can be.

The Location

In the south east of Mexico, you’ll find Quintana Roo, a Caribbean state with a quieter side beyond the busier beach resorts of the Riviera Maya. Here, lush jungle meets crystal-clear freshwater lagoons, offering a very different kind of Caribbean experience.

Our retreat takes place in Xul-Ha, a peaceful spot at the southern end of the famous Lagoon of Seven Colours, close to the laid-back town of Bacalar. Known for its extraordinary shades of blue, this part of Mexico offers a different kind of Caribbean experience, with a slower pace of life, tropical landscapes and plenty of opportunities to connect with nature.

It’s a place that invites you to slow down, spend time outdoors and enjoy the simple pleasure of being somewhere completely different, with the jungle on one side and the lagoon on the other, it’s a pretty special setting for a week of yoga, adventure, good food and connection.

Our Home

Our home for the retreat will be Kokoro Mío, a beautiful boutique sanctuary tucked amongst the lush jungle of Xul-Ha. Rather than a huge resort or bustling hotel, it’s an intimate, peaceful space designed to feel like a private sanctuary, with individual cabins nestled amongst the greenery and plenty of places to slow down and switch off.

The grounds have a swimming pool with an illuminated waterfall, a dedicated yoga shala, restaurant, bar, coffee shop and spa, alongside plenty of quiet corners to read, rest or simply sit and stare into the jungle for a while.

And then there’s the lagoon… Kokoro Mío has its own private lagoon club, just a 15 minute walk or a short 5 minute bike ride from the hotel, with bicycles provided by the venue. With its own pier and bar, it’s the perfect spot to spend an afternoon swimming, relaxing by the water or simply taking in those incredible shades of blue. We’ll also enjoy some of our lunches here, making the most of this beautiful setting.

Between the jungle, the lagoon and the peaceful surroundings, Kokoro Mío provides the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, with plenty of space to enjoy the experience together and time to yourself when you fancy it.

The Yoga

Yoga will, of course, be at the heart of our time together.

Throughout the week you will be guided through two yoga practices a day, including asana, meditation, breathwork, mindfulness and philosophy. The days will combine nourishing morning practices with slower evening sessions. Everything is taught in an accessible and welcoming way, whether you’re completely new to yoga or have been practising for years.

As always, the practices will be suitable for a range of experience levels. You don’t need to be able to touch your toes, do a handstand or have been practicing for years.

The focus is less on performance and more on how things feel from the inside. No pressure. No perfection. Just an opportunity to reset physically, mentally and emotionally.

The Food

Food is a big part of any retreat I host, and Kokoro Mío has its own restaurant, Mami Cuy, where traditional Mexican recipes meet a modern twist, alongside international dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Expect healthy, balanced meals featuring seasonal fruit and vegetables, with breakfast, lunch, dinner and daily snacks all included. Dietary requirements are catered for, so everyone can enjoy the food without worry.

There’s also a bar serving creative cocktails and other drinks, plus a coffee shop for those moments when a good coffee and something sweet are calling your name.

Meals are shared together around the table, creating space for connection, conversation and community. Good food, long conversations around the table and the chance to try something new are all part of the experience.

The Experience

This retreat is about creating space. Space to breathe deeply, move your body, slow your nervous system down and reconnect with yourself and the environment, away from the noise of daily life.

Beyond the opening and closing ceremonies, twice daily structured yoga classes and a midweek workshop, you are free to shape your days as you choose. You might spend time wandering through the forest, taking dips in the sea, enjoying the sauna, training in the CrossFit gym or simply resting with a book, journaling or napping.

There will be moments of movement and moments of complete stillness, all held in a warm and supportive environment. You can come alone or with a loved one. Either way, expect meaningful conversation, laughter, connection and a real sense of community.

A retreat is more than a holiday. It’s not about retreating from life, but delving more consciously and open heartedly into it. To have the time and space to slow down, reconnect with yourself and other people, try something new, laugh a lot, eat well, move your body and remember what actually matters when you’re not rushing around trying to fit everything into your calendar.
